Gunmen kill three family members in Jos

Some unidentified gunmen on Tuesday night killed three members of a family in Gyel, Bukuru in  Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Coming barely 48 hours after another family of five was killed in the state, the new trend is sending jitters down the spine of many residents.

In the latest incident, the man and his two children were killed in a midnight attack by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.

But the matriarch of the family was said to have survived the attack and was said to be receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.

State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Abraham Yiljap, who confirmed the incident, said the victims were murdered in their sleep.

He said, "Seven people  have been arrested in connection with the attacks in some communities in Foron and Kuru and will be  charged to court after preliminary investigations are  conducted"

Abraham appealed  to the people of the state to remain calm and be on the alert.

He also urged them  to report any suspicious movement in their neighbourhood to law enforcement agencies.
