Gunmen attack gas station, kill guard and injure policemen

Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers on Wednesday attacked AA Rano filling station around Federal Low-cost area of Bauchi metropolis, killing a security guard and injuring three police men.

The robbers were said to have carted away a huge amount of money from the filling station.
The gunmen were said to have arrived the fuel station with a vehicle, which they parked behind the games village, about two kilometers to the filling station.

Our correspondent gathered that two security guards were on duty when the gunmen struck. While one of them managed to escape, the second was not lucky as he was felled by the hoodlums.
Bauchi State Police Commissioner, Mr. Mohammed Ladan, confirmed the incident to journalists in Bauchi on Wednesday, saying the policemen were injured during a gun duel with the bandits.
According to him, the gunmen first attacked the filling station where they killed the security guard and when the police were alerted through a distress message from members of the public, some policemen were immediately dispatched to the area, adding however that the bandits opened fire on sighting the policemen.

He said the three police were injured during an exchange of fire between the police and the gunmen.

The commissioner said the armed robbers abandoned their vehicles and escaped with bullet wound, adding that the police had begun an investigation into the attack.*
