Alleged N10.6m fraud: Ex-Anambra commissioner to visit SFU

There are indications that former Anambra State Commissioner for Special Duties, Chief Vincent Ezenwajiaku , who was declared wanted last week by the Special Fraud Unit, Milverton, Ikoyi , over an alleged case of N10.6 million fraud, would be visiting the unit soon.
Although the exact day and time was not ascertained but the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Unit, Tunde Ogunsaki , disclosed yesterday that information at the unit’s disposal showed that embattled Ezenwajiaku had volunteered to hand himself over to the Unit for proper investigation.
Ogunsaki, however, described as untrue claim by the former commissioner that there was never an official invitation to him to report to SFU.
“ For your in formation , I learnt he said he had never been contacted. But I make bold to state that before we declared him wanted, our officers were in Awka, Anambra state ,where he made statement and was released on bail. He actually jumped bail by not coming when he was expected to,” he said.
“We are happy that he was sacked by the Anambra state government because of that act. It shows that there is no impunity for people who hide under the umbrella of being public office holders to commit this type of offense and think they can go away with it”
However on his part, Ezeanwajiaku told journalists last week that he resigned from the state executive council as against claims that he was ousted out of office.
This is just as he was reported to have sued CP, SFU as well as one Chuks Mgbenena of NIMASA, including Chief Superintendent of Police Okposiakpo Elolor for N250 million over what he described as an attempt to damage his reputation.
He was quoted as saying:“Since my life, I have never been involved in fraud, arrested or detained by the Police on anything concerning any form of illegality because it was a vow I took after my National Youth Service Corps.
“As a result of this raging fire, I am going further by resigning my position as the state Commissioner for Special Duties and I am going to tender my letter to Governor Obi first thing tomorrow morning (Friday), because I do not intend to embarrass his government. This is to prove my innocence until I clear my name of this mess. Whatever it will take to do it, I will do it”.
