Chidi Lloyd, majority leader at the Rivers State House of Assembly, detained since yesterday in Abuja, is still being held by the police.
The police claimed that he is being interrogated, in connection with the fracas in the House on 9 July.
A statement by the Nigerian police high command said Lloyd, is “helping Police investigators in efforts at unraveling the circumstances surrounding the crisis that occurred in the hallowed chambers of the House of Assembly.”
The statement signed by police spokesman, Frank Mba, said Chidi Lloyd, accompanied by his lawyers arrived at the Force Headquarters in Abuja Tuesday at 4 p.m, in response to a summon earlier issued by the command.
“The lawmaker has commendably, so far shown a high level of cooperation with Police detectives. Meanwhile, his interrogation is still ongoing.
The Police Force had on 17 July, 2013, summoned Lloyd and two others to report to the Force CID to explain their roles in the current crisis in the Rivers State House of Assembly, especially, as shown in some video footages by the media.
