The Independent National Electoral Commissioner (INEC) has declared the Imo State House of Assembly re-run election held for Oguta State constituency inconclusive.
The resident electoral commissioner for Imo State Mrs. Celina Okoh made the announcement in her office yesterday while giving an update on the election which held on Saturday.
She said that the declaration of the election as inconclusive was based on the fact that the number of the votes polled both by the contestants in the other polling units does not tally with the number of votes cast in the polling unit where results were received.
Okoh who did not reveal who the leading contestant is said INEC has the only option of declaring the result inconclusive.
She said that already she has submitted her documents to the headquarters of INEC in Abuja, adding that they are the right authority to determine when the election would be concluded.
The outcome of the election might not be unconnected with the heavy presence of security men ranging from Army, Police NSCDC and other security apparatus that were deployed in the area by both the state and Federal Government.
The situation scared away mass number of voters who were ready to come out to cast their votes for their candidate.
