Man uses fake certificate to practise pharmacy







A 68-year old man, John Akande has been arraigned before the Chief Magistrate's Court, Yaba for using forged certificate to practice pharmacy for three years.

Akande who was facing three counts of forgery and false representation was nabbed while presenting himself as pharmacist Adekunle John Akanni before one Dr. Taiwo Filusi of the Pharmacist Council of Nigeria.

The charge sheet read in part, "That you, John Akande ,m, and others now at large on or before the 31st day of Dcember 2009 at Yaba area Lagos in the Yaba Magisterial District did conspire with one another to commit felony to wit forgery and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria 2011."

When the charges were read, he pleaded not guilty.

His counsel prayed the court for his bail on liberal terms.

In his ruling, the magistrate Mr. P.A. Ojo admitted Akande on bail upon the payment of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned till May 15.
