Buhari not desperate to rule Nigeria – CPC
Chairman of Contact and Mobilisation Group of the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, Senator Solomon Ewuga, has affirmed that former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari, was not desperate to contest for Presidential position under the proposed mega party, the All Progressives Congress, APC in 2015.
DailyPost has gathered that the party chieftain, who led members of his committee to a meeting with leaders of the party from the South-West region in Ibadan, Oyo State capital on Monday, said all the promoters of the mega party had agreed to place national interest above individual interests, in the quest to win the 2015 polls.
He stated that all stakeholders in the mega party would decide who picked the presidential ticket of the party and rally support for him before the election.
“We will take this nation from the conservatives. This time, special people will remove this nation from the grip of the conservatives. Our convention will come up on May 9 this year, where far reaching decisions would be made,” he said.
Ewuga promised that those vying for the ticket would go through normal procedure, emphasising that there would be no room for the imposition of candidates.
On the controversy trailing the APC acronym, the senator said it was not an issue, as the stakeholders were aware of the step to take at any stage of the ongoing process to midwife the mega party.
He assured that the CPC would be put in good stead ahead of the merger, urging the media to guide against false reports that could jeopardise the success of the merger.
