20-year-olds arraigned for robbery

    
Two 22-year-old men, Jacob Ayuba, and Sule Aliyu, have been arraigned before a Tinubu Magistrate’s Court for allegedly robbing residents of Abike Animashaun Street, in Lekki Phase 1, Eti-Osa area of Lagos state.

The police said the attack on the residents was carried out around 2am on November 15, 2013.

The suspects were said to have stolen a 32-inch television set, two mobile phones and N12, 000 cash, totalling N105,000.

They were intercepted by the police while escaping with their loot.

Some members of the gang reportedly escaped, but the two defendants were apprehended and arraigned on four counts of robbery and stealing.

The charges read in part, “That you, Jacob Ayuba, Sule Aliyu and others now at large on November 15, 2013 at about 2am at No 2B, Abike Animashaun Street, Lekki Phase 1, in Eti-Osa LGA, within Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire to commit felony to wit robbery.”

The prosecutor said the offences were punishable under Sections 297, 310(a), 310(d), 295 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The magistrate, Mrs. A.T Omoyele, admitted them to bail in the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties in like terms.

The matter was adjourned till December 17, 2013
