Nurses reschedule strike for next week
The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, an affiliate of the Nigeria Labour Congress, has suspended its strike earlier scheduled to begin tomorrow by one week.
A statement issued on Sunday by the National President of NANNM, Abdrafiu Adeniji and Acting General Secretary, Yusuf-Badmus, said suspension was sequel to a re-conciliatory meeting with the Federal Government.
“Therefore, we call on all our members nation-wide to remain calm and continue in their civic duties of caring for the sick and wounded, while we see to the full implementation of our well deserved victory at the National Industrial Court,” the NANNM said.
The planned strike, which was declared last week followed government’s failure to implement the 34 years old judgment of the Industrial Arbitration Panel.
