AIG warns politicians against provocative utterances

Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 8, Lokoja, Mr. Christopher Dega, has warned politicians to avoid the use of provocative language and inflammatory remarks.

He also told them to go about their politicking with decorum and in according with the Electoral Law.

Speaking in Ilorin on Tuesday during a meeting with politicians and other stakeholders, he urged politicians to notify the police early enough of their rallies.

Dega also advised them to control party members and supporters, adding that they should not see election or as a do-or-die affair.

“Where one is defeated, such a person should take it in good faith as a gentleman or woman,” he said.

He lamented the armed robbery attack on banks, and raid on the police station at Offa which left many people dead.

On his own part, the Kwara State Police Commissioner, Mr. Agboola Oshodi-Glover, said the command lacked the required manpower, operational equipment and logistics for efficient service delivery.

“We have only 4,072 officers,” he said, adding that some police posts had been shut because of shortage of personnel.

The CP added that the command lacked efficient communication networking tools.
