2015: Mu’azu promises level playing field for all PDP members
The party chairman again promised to reconcile aggrieved members.
The National Chairman of the People Democratic Party, PDP, Ahmed Mu’azu, on Saturday promised to ensure a level-playing field for all party members in the forthcoming 2015 elections.
Mr. Mu’azu made the pledge in Bauchi at a civic reception organised in his honour by the Bauchi State Government.
He noted that although he had a short time-frame to properly position the party before the 2015 elections, he was optimistic that if justice, fairness and equity prevailed within the party, PDP would emerge victorious.
“PDP shall regain its glory if there is justice, fairness and equity entrenched by ensuring a level-playing field for all members aspiring for elective positions, as well as appointments,” Mr. Mu’azu said.
He said he would ensure that he reconciled all the aggrieved members and bring back defectors, so as to move the party forward.
“One of the main task ahead of me as the national chairman of the party, is to ensure that all our members who defected to the opposition party, returned to PDP, “he added.
He, however, advised all aspirants wishing to contest elections within the party, to go back to their wards and get the support of the people at the grassroots.
He solicited for the cooperation and support of all stakeholders in the state, the North-East zone, and the country at large, for success to be achieved.
In his remarks, Governor Isa Yuguda described Mr. Mu’azu’s assignment as very challenging, and therefore appealed to the entire people of the state, to pray for him to succeed.
“We must pray for him if we want him to succeed. If he succeeds as the National Chairman of our dear party, Jonathan will succeed as our president.
“The prayer is for us to work together and strengthen our relationship. As such, we must wish him well because if we don’t, being his kinsmen, nobody will,” Mr. Yuguda stated.
Also speaking, the PDP Chairman in Bauchi State, Ibrahim Yaro, said that few months ago, the party lost some members who defected to the opposition party.
He, however, expressed optimism that with the appointment of Mr. Mu’azu as the party’s National Chairman, PDP would advance.
In his remarks, the FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed, commended Mr. Yuguda for nominating and supporting the candidature of Mr. Mu’azu, adding that with this development, PDP would emerge victorious, come 2015.
Abdul Ningi, representing Bauchi Central, who also graced the occasion, expressed happiness that the at last, the internal conflicts within the PDP were being resolved.
Mr. Ningi, who is also the Senate Deputy Majority Leader, said he had confidence in Mr. Mu’azu’s ability to enhance the fortunes of the PDP as the largest political party in Africa.
