Youths in Emure Ekiti, under the aegis of Emure Youths Development Council, has warned the member, House of Representatives and governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Opeyemi Bamidele, against what they described as incitement of the youths against the Governor Kayode Fayemi administration in the state.
The group, in a statement jointly signed by its President and Secretary, Kayode Ojo and Dele Adebayo respectively, a copy of which was made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Monday, said, “Members of this association wish to acknowledge the declaration of Opeyemi Bamidele for Ekiti State 2014 governorship contest as his democratic right because Nigeria operates a multi-party democracy.
“However, we wish to raise our concern over the choice of our town for that event that ought to be held in the state capital, Ado-Ekiti.
“Even though there is no law forcing an aspirant to make his declaration in the state capital, we believe the recent event by Opeyemi in Emure-Ekiti, which caused the death of Mr. Foluso Ogundare, and who is yet to be buried, should be a good ground for him to let our people keep their sorrow for now instead of creating a scenario that will deepen their pains.”
The statement added, “We see Opeyemi’s choice of Emure-Ekiti as the venue of his declaration as insensitive to the pains of our people, more so with the impression he is creating that Emure people do not have the human milk of kindness to deeply feel the pains of the loss of their illustrious son during Bibiire’s event organised by the House of Representative member.
“We are also worried that he would follow the same pattern that led to a mayhem that caused Foluso’s death.”
