We won’t stop anyone from leavening PDP -Tukur

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party , Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, has expressed shock on the  defection of five aggrieved governors from the party to the All Progressives Congress.

Though, he said he was astonished at their decision to leave, he however said he would not stop anyone from leaving the party.

The governors are that of Sokoto(Aliyu Wamako);  Rivers (Rotimi Amaechi); Kano(Aliyu Wamakko); Kwara(Abdulfatah Ahmed) and Adamawa (Murtala Nyako).

The other town aggrieved governors -Sule Lamido and Babangida Aliyu of Jigawa and Niger states respectively- said they would still remain in the PDP.

Tukur said the aggrieved  governors went too far by defecting from a ruling party into the opposition party, especially at a time he said the doors of negotiations and dialogue were kept wide open by President Goodluck Jonathan and the leadership of the  party .

The national chairman of the party, who is currently in China, said he was in constant touch with the Presidency and party leaders on the development.

He assured party members that the turn of event was normal in a democracy, as, according to him, the party leaders would always put heads together to salvage PDP and further its desire to remain in power.
