Ticket fraud: Union chairman escapes indictment

The Police in Ondo State say the circulation of fake tickets in some units of the Ondo State Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers is real.

They, however, failed to link it with the suspended Chairman of the union, Chief Obayoriade Oladutele, aka Die the Matter.

Following the police report, the national headquarters of the union in Abuja ordered his reinstatement.

A statement from the union headquarters in Abuja, which was read by the Secretary in Charge, Mr. Kayode Agbeyangi, in Akure on Monday, stated that the suspended chairman should be reinstated with immediate effect.

The statement read in part, “That since the investigation by the Nigeria Police Force, Ondo State Command into the matter has exonerated the state chairman, Chief Obayoriade Oladutele, the national headquarters has no option other than to restore Chief Oladutele, who was earlier asked to step aside to give room for proper investigation.”

The statement also called on the union members to embrace reconciliation.
