The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa, has described the defection of former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola as “a good riddance to a bad rubbish.”
The chairman said this in an interview with our correspondent in Osogbo on Tuesday.
He said the PDP remained committed to its determination to oust the ruling All Progressives Congress in the governorship poll holding next year in the state.
Olaoluwa said, “Oyinlola did not join the APC today (Tuesday). He joined them three months ago and he told his supporters at a meeting but they warned him against going ahead with the plan.
“His supporters told him that they would not join him to leave the PDP for the APC so his defection is inconsequential. We won’t be affected by it at all.
“We are determined more than ever to chase Aregbesola and his party out of the Government House next year. We will do that through the ballots; that means he (Oyinlola) has joined those who will be chased away next year.”
Thousands of the PDP members had defied the order given by the leadership of the PDP that they should not attend any meeting called by Oyinlola or his loyalists.
But some members shunned the directive and trooped to Okuku where they held a meeting with Oyinlola and some of them were suspended but were just pardoned about two weeks ago.
