NLC & TUC to go on strike tommorrow

The organized labour, comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Trade Union Congress (TUC) and civil society groups says there is no going back on the protest against pension fraud. To this end, Labour has declared tomorrow (Wednesday, April 10) a work-free day for the mass action scheduled to hold in Abuja and Lagos. The NLC says it is unhappy at the plight of pensioners, who are being owed over a billion naira in pension arrears. At a recent media briefing in Abuja, President of the NLC, Abdulwaheed Omar, said the mass protest was aimed at corruption and impunity in government across states and federal levels. He urged Nigerians across the country to participate actively in the rallies and protest marches for a review of the pension fund in order to ensure living pensions and its prompt payment to retirees.
