Manchester United agree training ground and kit deal with AON worth £120 million
Manchester United’s Carrington training ground will be renamed to AON training complex after United and the American based company agreed a 8 years deal for the ground breaking naming rights worth around £15million per-season(£120mil). The deal kick start from July 2013 onwards gives the American insurance giant the right to display its logo on training kit for friendly and competitive domestic fixtures as well . AON will also become United’s “presenting” partners for overseas tours starting with this summer’s trip to the Far East. AON are currently the main kit sponsor for United worth £25million-a-year but Chevrolet will replace them from the beginning of season 2014-2015(8 years deal) with a world record £53million per-season package but this new agreement between the red devils and AON will continue their strong relationship as it runs until the year 2021.
“When we started the first partnership people didn’t recognise our name. But by 2010 half the decision makers of major companies said they recognised our logo. We still want to drive our brand but we’ve hit the awareness goal. Now we want to use the relationship with Manchester United to better engage with our clients.” - Phil Clement, the global chief marketing officer for AON, told the BBC
United’s incoming CEO Ed Woodward has also confirmed the naming rights of Old Trafford will never be sold.
“Old Trafford will not be sold”. - Ed Woodward
