Adeleke, Omisore trade words over Osun PDP primary

Former Governor of Osun State,  Isiaka Adeleke, and the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, Senator Iyiola Omisore, have differed sharply over the PDP governorship primary that produced Omisore on April 5.
Adeleke, who boycotted the primary, alleged on Tuesday that Omisore camp substituted the authentic  list delegates with a fake list which was used to conduct the primary.
The former governor, who spoke at a reception he organised in honour of his supporters,  described  Omisore’s candidacy as a “product of a poisonous tree.”
He stated that all the aspirants had forwarded petitions to the appeal committee of the party.
While expressing the confidence that Omisore’s victory would be reversed, he said the primary was a “laughable charade.”
Adeleke said, “I started this journey when the leaders of our party realised that PDP might produce a candidate, who may eventually lose the governorship election. All the aspirants have forwarded petitions and complaints to the national headquarters of the PDP and the election petition panel and they have confirmed receipt of our grievances and promised to look into it.
“Our petitions have been acknowledged by the national chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Adamu Muazu, the Presidency and security agencies and we have the hope that action would be taken over the matter.
”I appeal to our members, teeming supporters to continue to work for the PDP and the second term of President Goodluck Jonathan.”
The former governor, who had last week alleged that he was assaulted by Omisore, the Police Affairs Minister, Mr. Jelili Adesiyan, and one Sogo, said he had documentary evidence to support his claim.
Omisore and the minister have since described the allegation as a fabricated one to tarnish their reputation.
But Adeleke added, “When they assaulted me physically, the electricity supply to the hotel was abruptly put off, but they never knew that the CCTV had a device that can record for sometime before the restoration of power. I have all these evidences and I have concluded plans to press charges against all of them, who turned me into a punching bag.”

But Omisore while reacting to the claim of the  the former governor described him as an agent of the ruling party in the state, saying he was planted to cause confusion within the opposition party.
The governorship candidate, who spoke through his media aide, Mr. Diran Odeyemi, said the former governor had perfected plans  to defect to the Labour Party.
He advised Adeleke to remain in the PDP or leave to continue to fraternise with the enemies of the PDP.
Odeyemi said, “He  was  used by Governor Raul Aregbesola to disrupt the peace of the PDP.”
