IPMAN dispels rumour of imminent fuel scarcity
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria has advised the public to avoid panic buying of fuel as it stated that there was enough fuel in the country.
The National President, IPMAN, Mr. Aminu Abdulkadri, disclosed this during a media briefing on Monday against the insinuations over imminent fuel scarcity in the country.
Abdulkadri said there was very stable fuel supply in the country.
He said, “There is no scarcity of fuel in the country. Marketers or Nigerians should stop giving wrong signals over scarcity of petroleum products.
“We are lodging petroleum products adequately from all NNPC (Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation) depots across the country and we don’t think there is any proposed scarcity because NNPC has assured us of sufficient stock in the country.”
He said the NNPC and its subsidiary had sufficient stock in their marine reserves and in the national strategic reserve that would ensure that the country remained wet with petroleum products round the clock.
The IPMAN president cautioned members of the public against any form of hoarding or panic buying of petroleum products in anticipation of scarcity.
Abdulkadri said, “The fuel situations in the country are quite stable; no cause for alarm. This smooth supply of products had been sustained for a period of two-years.
“I want to assure our members that there is no cause for alarm, we need to step up our bridging in areas where products supply is lacking we should augment, because vandalisation of the products pipelines had been a serious menace to the country.”
