WE’RE WAITING FOR APC LEADERS - KWARA PDP

Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday said the party is waiting to receive the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) which is expected in the state today as part of its ongoing consultative meeting.
The APC leadership last week started a consultative visit to woo seven aggrieved governors of PDP to the APC.
Daily Trust gathered that leaders of the APC who were scheduled to be in Port Harcourt, Rivers State yesterday are to visit Kwara State today.
Speaking with our correspondent yesterday, PDP director of publicity, Alhaji Mas’ud Adebimpe said  though he is not aware of their proposed visit, the party is “waiting” to receive them.
He however added that there is nothing “unusual” about the visit and should not be misconstrued to mean that the state PDP under the leadership of former Governor Bukola Saraki would be defecting to APC.
“To the glory of God, PDP is the party in Kwara State. The same PDP conducted local government election recently and won. I think we shouldn’t jump the gun. All these things you are reading are mere insinuations. Why don’t you wait to tell you as a party that this is where we are going?” he said.
The state APC had expressed its readiness to accept the supporters of PDP to their fold if the national leadership gives the directive.
It however, stressed that any member of the PDP joining the APC must abide by the party’s rules and regulations.
The former state chairman of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Alhaji Suleiman Buhari, explained that the party’s constitution would have to be fully adhered to by the new members.
