The Aba Police Area Command has arrested a 40-year-old Prophet/Pastor, Benjamin Ndubuisi, for having unlawful carnal knowledge of a 23-year-old man.
Investigations revealed that the prophet whose church is located at 89 Ukaegbu Road, Ogbor Hill has been involved in the unholy act with the victim since he engaged him as a worker in his church.
Trouble started for the prophet when his victim who gave his name as Ndukwe took ill two weeks ago and worried by his continued deteriorating health condition, confessed to his family about the secret love affairs between him and the gay prophet.
Residents of the area hinted that Ndubuisi, who is a prophet in one of the white garment churches in Ogbor Hill, engaged his victim as a worker in the church as a ploy to always have him around to satisfy his sexual urge.
The gay prophet is alleged to have administered oath to Ndukwe to stop him from divulging the details of the love affair between them to his relatives and members of the church.
Worried by the shocking revelation, Ndukwe’s parents alerted policemen leading to the arrest of the homosexual prophet.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. Galadima Rubies, told the court that the accused committed the offence at Ogbor Hill in Aba on July 28.
According to him, Benjamin had a carnal knowledge of a man’s son through the anus.
Rubies said the offence contravened Section 214 (1) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Abia 2005.
When the suspect was arraigned in court, he pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of N200, 000 with a surety in like sum.
Magistrate K. I. Udo said the surety should be resident within the court’s jurisdiction as part of the bail conditions.
The accused may be sentenced to 14 years imprisonment on conviction.
The case was adjourned to September 9 for further hearing.

Jonathan never planned Ramadan visit to IBB – Presidency
President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, denied media report that his request to break the Ramadan fast with former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (rtd.), was turned down by the latter.
In a statement in Abuja yesterday, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, said there was no such request and so the issue of being turned down does not arise.
He demanded a retraction of the story by the newspaper (not Vanguard) and an apology to the president.
The statement read: “The mischievous lead report in the daily today (yesterday) that President Goodluck Jonathan sought to visit former President Ibrahim Babangida in Minna to show him ‘the spirit of comradeship’ during Ramadan is completely untrue.
“Although President Jonathan participates in the Ramadan fast every year in solidarity with Nigerians of the Islamic faith, he has never as Vice President or President visited the residence of any individual to break his fast.
“Rather, it has been the President’s custom to regularly invite Muslims from all strata of society to break their fast with him at the Presidential Villa, during the month of Ramadan.
“In keeping with that established practice, President Jonathan has been busy hosting Muslims, most evenings of the current Ramadan season.
“As much as he respects and holds Babangida in high regard, President Jonathan has never indicated any interest in visiting him at Minna during the current Ramadan.
“Therefore, there could not have been any ‘turning down’ of a visit by President Jonathan by the former president.
“We condemn the decision of the editors of the daily to publish such arrant falsehood in spite of our vigorous rebuttal as a further manifestation of a continuing effort to sow the seeds of discord in the polity.
“Although the newspaper cites a phantom ‘reliable presidency source’ and ‘a source close to the former president’ to buttress its fictitious report, the editors of the daily know fully well that they can never prove the veracity of the false claim that President Jonathan either offered to break fast with Babangida in Minna or was turned down by the former president.
“We, therefore, demand a full retraction of the totally false report, which demeans the office of the President and an apology by the newspaper.”

Godogodo: Police nab armourer, stolen goods receiver
Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, are said to have arrested the mother of a gang member, who also served as the amourer to the group led by the notorious one-eyed robbery kingpin, Abiodun Ogunjobi, aka Godogodo, arrested in Lagos, last week
She was said to be the keeper of the rifles they used in raiding banks in Osun, Ekiti and Ondo states.
Also nabbed, yesterday, was the key receiver of goods stolen by the gang.
The arrest resulted from the deployment of operatives to some South-Western states to track down members of the gang.
According to a usually reliable source, “all the suspects are now in custody and we are bringing them to Lagos.
“Godogodo confessed that Odun’s mother was the one keeping their arms in Ekiti and we have arrested her. He also gave us the details of the man who received their stolen goods including gold jewellery also in Ekiti.”
Victims storm police headquarters
Meantime, at press time, some of the victims who survived Godogodo’s gruesome robbery attacks in Lagos State, were at the police headquarters in Ikeja to state their cases.
Some of the victims told Vanguard that they were grateful that the law finally caught up with Godogodo.
Also, the Ogun State Police command has refuted claims by the notorious South-West robbery czar, that he was arrested and incarcerated for a minor crime of fighting in 1999 which made him to spend seven years in prison.
Godogodo nabbed in 1999 for robbery, murder
Sources from the Ogun State command told Vanguard, yesterday, that Godogodo was actually arrested in 1999 for robbery and murder, adding that he was charged to an Abeokuta court which remanded him.
The source at the Ogun State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, also told Vanguard that Godogodo spent less than the time he claimed in the prison in Ogun State, where he was remanded.
The source said: “He was arrested for robbery and murder and not fighting as he claimed when he was interviewed.
“Our records showed that Godogodo was never arrested for fighting, rather he was arrested for a more heinous crime and I doubt if he spent up to seven years in prison.
“He got bail few months after his arrest and he jumped bail afterwards. As I speak with you, the command’s legal department is investigating how Godogodo got his bail.”

NNPC to enforce N50/litre kerosene price; allays fears of scarcity
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, and its downstream subsidiary, the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company, PPMC, yesterday, threatened to sanction marketers and other stakeholders engaged in the sale of kerosene above the approved price to Nigerians.
The NNPC, in a statement signed by Mrs. Green, Acting Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, also allayed fears of alleged scarcity of kerosene in the country, saying that about 11 million litres of Dual Purpose Kerosene, DPK, were being supplied across the country daily, far above the national demand of eight million litres daily.
Green maintained that the NNPC and the PPMC will continue to work with all stakeholders to ensure even distribution of kerosene to all nook and crannies of the country, and also advised members of the public against panic buying of the product.
“We, therefore, call on all stakeholders to ensure that petroleum products including kerosene get to the general public at government approved prices as severe sanctions await any defaulter,” she said.
Continuing she said: “This clarification has become necessary due to reports of scarcity of the product in some parts of the country. For the avoidance of doubt, the NNPC, through its subsidiary, the PPMC supplies between 10 and 11 million litres of kerosene daily, which is distributed through allocations to licensed marketers such as Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, (IPMAN), Depot And Petroleum Products Marketers Association, (DAPPMA), Major Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) and NNPC Retail Limited who sell to the general public through their retail outlets.
“It is, therefore, a surprise to receive reports of scarcity in spite of the fact that NNPC/PPMC supply above the eight million litres national daily consumption.”

UK varsity alumnus arrested for drug trafficking
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have apprehended a 30-year-old man, John Arinze, for being in possession of 2.1 kilogrames of methamphetamine.
The NDLEA Head of Public Affairs, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, said the arrest was made during the outward screening of passengers on a Virgin Atlantic flight to London at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
NDLEA Airport Commander, Mr. Hamza Umar, who confirmed the arrest, said, "Four parcels containing substances that tested positive for methamphetamine were found carefully hidden inside Arinze's luggage.
"Officers had to cut open the sides of the bag to recover the parcels of drugs. On interrogation as to the purposes of his travel, the suspect claimed he had an interview in London."
Arinze, who is a career counsellor, also claimed to be an ambassador of Bolton University in the United Kingdom where he had lived for three years.
Arinze claimed that he was given the bag by a friend, who bought his return ticket to London.
He said, "I came to Nigeria in June as an alumni ambassador of my university. I have a Master's degree in International Business from Bolton University. Work was at advanced stage for an exhibition in Onitsha with parents and prospective candidates, who are interested in furthering their education in the United Kingdom.
"In the process, I got an interview request in London which I had wanted to quickly attend and then return to Nigeria. A friend who assisted me in buying my ticket gave me the bag to use for my trip. It was inside the bag that the parcels of drug were found. I truly regret the incident and will like my friends, relatives and business partners to please understand my situation."
Chairman of NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade, described Arinze's excuse as disappointing.
He said, "It is sad and disappointing that the suspect could yield to the demand to traffic drugs considering his academic background and profession as a career counsellor."

Appeal Court sacks Bauchi deputy gov
The Court of Appeal sitting in Jos, Plateau State has set aside the judgment of the Bauchi State High Court which reinstated the erstwhile Deputy Governor, Muhammad Garba Gadi, asking him to pay N30, 000 as cost to the appellants.
The verdict delivered by Justices Oyebisi Folayemi, Ibrahim Shata Boliya and Peter Olabisi Ige on July 26, 2013, followed the appeal against the ruling of the High Court delivered on June 25, 2010 which declared the removal of the then Deputy Governor, Garba Gadi as unconstitutional, null and void.
Copies of the judgment which were released to newsmen in Bauchi by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ishola Michael Adeyemi, reads in part: ‘Three issues were placed before the Court of Appeal. All the three issues were resolved in favour of the appellants, in other words, the appeal has succeeded.’
The Court of Appeal also stated that, “the judgment of the Bauchi State High Court delivered on June 25, 2010 is hereby set aside. Respondent, (Alhaji Garba Gadi) shall pay costs of N30, 000 in favour of the appellants.”
The implication of the appellate court’s verdict is that all the orders made by the Bauchi State High Court have been set aside; the seven-man panel and the process of the removal of Alhaji Gadi have been declared to be valid, proper and lawful.
